Your Study Abroad Checklist
Are you prepared to go abroad? Have you purchased your flight, train or boat ticket? Your Visa? Set a Budget? Exchanged foreign money? Prepared a plan? NO?!?! Then this checklist is for you! Take a deep breath. Follow these 7 suggestions and we can assure you that your StudyAbroad will go just as you planned!
1. Choose a Destination
First things first, before setting out on your adventure you have to make sure that you know where you are going. Makes sense right?
Once you’ve done that, you can begin planning!
2. Prepare a budget and arrange your finances
Money can be a big issue in your study abroad and travel plans and it is important to make sure you have enough money for the trip. Budgets will help make sure that you know how much you need to set aside for your time abroad. A good way to do this using the “student budget” set by universities in that country. This list usually gives you the approximate costs for books, tuition, accommodation, trips and meals, but remember to set aside some money for other activities.
3. Visa/Passport (Important!)
Your passport without a doubt will be the most important document to carry with you everywhere you go. It may take a few weeks to acquire and we recommend starting at least 2 months before your trip. This will give you enough time to have every document in order.
Pro tip: Use a professional photo
4. Packing your bags
There is only one way to pack for travelling and that is take only what you need! Taking too many things will only make your trip more difficult and even more stressful.
Pro tip: Travel light and pack tight!
5. Convert foreign money
Easily enough, convert your money into the foreign currency. Find out about the common currency, the exchange rate and the best places to convert this money.
Pro tip: Airports may not be the best places to convert money. Try different locations in your home country. For the latest currency exchange rates check XE currency converter
