What is the minimum English language requirement to study in Europe?
Although the expected level of command of English may vary depending on the school and, above all, the study program or course, the usual average English language requirement you will be required to have to study in Europe is 550 points (paper-based TOEFL test), or 213 points (computer-based TOEFL test), or 79-80 points (Internet-based TOEFL test), or 5.5 - 6.5 score in the IELTS test. If you have not taken either the TOEFL or IELTS tests and you would like to prove your level of knowledge of English with other exams, you will need to prove you have a level of command of English corresponding to the B1/B2 level (intermediate) according to the European language passport.
Please, be advised that the more competitive a course or study program is, the higher the level of knowledge of English will be.
Are there scholarships for international students in Europe?
Many universities in Europe offer scholarships, grants and loans to international students during the course of their education. These scholarships could me full merit-based scholarship or part scholarship and discounts. However, it is important that you have the funds to study abroad at the scholarships provided by universities are limited in ratio to the amount of students applying for them. Scholarships and grants are also provided in your home country by the government, private organisations and NGO's to help students studying abroad. Make sure to check for these types of aides also.

Europe is a very popular education destination among students from all over the world. However, some countries are more popular than others. The chart below shows you the number of international students in each country in 2007.
Nearly 4.3 million students are enrolled in university-leveleducation outside their home country. Australia, the UnitedKingdom, Switzerland, New Zealand and Austria have, indescending order, the highest percentage of international students.
What are the general entry requirements to study in Europe
Although each country and university have specific entry requirements to get enrolled, certain courses also have specific requirements. Some universities have a General Entrance (or 'matriculation') requirement, a basic minimum set of qualifications that all students have to have.

Most students will meet the requirements, but it is worth checking to be sure.

The university may include an English language requirement, or require a criminal records (now called a DBS check) or fitness to practice check.

Most universities will have some caveats to enable them to admit good students with unusual backgrounds even if they don't meet the General Entrance requirement.
Each course will also have its entry requirements, both in terms of subjects you must already have studied and the examination grades required for entry.

Most mathematics courses, for example, will require previous study of mathematics.

If you have the right subjects, the grades required will vary between universities and also between subjects.

There is little point in applying for medicine unless you are confident of getting straight As at A level (or their equivalent in other qualifications) while a collection of C grades may get you into a course such as engineering at some less popular universities.
